NEW YORK ZEN COMMUNITY FOR DŌGEN STUDY 

Shikantaza, Shikan Living, Dōgen Study.  Bringing Buddhist Teaching to life

  • NYZC for Dōgen Study is a sangha dedicated to shikantaza zazen and Dōgen Study. We offer lecture series on the teachings of Dōgen Zenji and other primary Buddhist texts, emphasizing the direct application of these teachings to our daily lives, here and now.

​

  • We are part of a global network of disciples and students of Shōhaku Okumura Rōshi of the Sōtō Zen School of Japan. 

​

  • We are under the direct lineage of Kōdō Sawaki, Kōshō Uchiyama and Shōhaku Okumura.

​

  • All programs are available for online participation for those who live afar and/or are not able to be at the site physically
